This is kinda old, but figured I'd post it anyway. Bryan and I decided to hit up this Gothamist.com/SliceNY.com Pizza Party a few weeks back and we rocked that shit fool. Bedford Ave., unlimited pizza, Peroni beer and a bunch of people who think reading a blog makes them interesting. What's not to love?

They brought out over 20 different styles of pizza - all very good. Being either bold or uninformed, Bry even ate some freaky wild mushroom thing (gross) that would later send his body into a battle for survival. Didn't you wonder why your skin has been so itchy Bry Bry? I knew.

Overall it was actually a pretty good time. Not too crowded, everyone was pretty chill and had their digital SLR at the ready to capture the magic of eating pizza. I made a point to talk to both the Gothamist and SliceNY bloggers because you never know when you'll need a guy who eats and writes about pizza. In fact, this picture was featured on his website and Bry and I inadvertently made these people so much cooler just by being in it.

Kristen posted a few pictures on Flickr today from their trip to Disney. Looks like Lily had a great time! Sadly, after a police investigation it turns out they weren't the only ones getting their kicks in the Animal Kingdom. As with a previous case, the police were able to utilize X-Ray photographic technology to uncover the disturbing truth. Local authorities rushed to escort the imposter from Animal Kingdom and quickly deposited him into Universal Studios theme park.

As a Maxim Magazine marketer, I'm on a lot of the sites targeted toward dumb 18-21 year olds. Sites filled with all the stuff guys like, but are not supposed to admit to linking once you've graduated college. Luckily for me, I have a valid excuse for visiting sites featuring midget bowling competitions, binge drinking and college blondes. What man wouldn't like being actually encouraged to typically banned websites? Funny thing is, it gets old quick!

In any case, I was on CollegeHumor.com today, which is a huge student oriented site now. The feature was "Post-Collegiate Life: Your Next Ten Years" and I thought it would be fun to share each year as it relates to us (even though they in no way make sense... lets just go with it).

Bryan: 1 year out of school

Things are looking good. That internship you had with Xerox has led to a full time job. Unfortunately, that job involves being ordered around by some middle-aged asshole with unfortunate acne scaring. But things are pretty cool. You've got a sweet pad with a couple of dudes from school, including your dealer. Sweet! Your Tri Delt girlfriend is still a year from graduation, and things can only look up.

Mike: 4 years out of school (effectively, not reality!)

Your weed habit is something to worry about. You try to go cold turkey, but take up drinking lots and lots of gin in the interim. After getting yelled at one day over the font you chose for an office memo on paper width, you quit. And by quit I mean you take a picture of your boss shitting and e-mail to every employee in the company. Your reference letter is less than kind.

Matt: 7 years out of school

Your friends grow concerned with your drinking and drug habits. They hold an intervention, but bring beers along. You all get drunk and end up buying a bunch of blow.

Kristen: 8 years out of school

You get arrested for selling weed to a cop at a Leftover Salmon(?) concert your little cousin (Alex) dragged you to. End up serving six months in a Wisconsin jail, where you flirt with the idea of finding Jesus before settling into reading all the Harry Potter books.

However many years we're out of school, I think this chart they supplied pretty accurately depicts the situation.

I can not lie to you, and I know the paparazzi will be banging down my door with their serpent microphones and ungodly soul stealing cameras, but I have been contacted by the Lord our Savior. He came to me in a dream vision and told to spread the word of one of God's true miracles. That man is Pastor Gas. He's full of faith and full of hot methane gas and he's spewing both. Hallelujah!

Update: If you couldn't get enough of Pastor Gas, here is another session with the holy one. Maybe he'd need my new product, Holy Shit toilet paper, the only toilet paper with the bible printed on it!

Here's one of my new favorite SNL skits - "I'm Carol!". A latino Chris Farley, Heratio Sans has been SNL's requisite "fat man" and skit filler. I think he's probably the most over looked cast members and as such never gets a lot of air time. In fact, I'd probably get more laughs watching him play the President than that other tool.

In any case, I hope they continue doing this charatcer because it cracks me up and it's by far his best work since "Gobi". Yeserday I was using StumbleUpon.com, a social bookmarking tool, and I came across www.assassinationscience.com, a site dedicated to showing the many inaccuracies in the Zapruder film. The site claims that the Zapruder film was a hoax intended to keep people sniffing up the wrong tree about what happened the day JFK was killed. Just another day at the office in Washington D.C.!

The site is pretty poor, but worth a read if you have a moment. Notable Blogger (and SCAM artist) Jason Kottke linked to an page today that compliments the information well.. Here is the stablized version of the Zapruder Film.

I watched this film and thought I'd do some of my own video investigation. These two people were on the lawn behind the Presidents motorcade. Unless one of these men can bend sunlight, there has to be something fishy going on. Look for yourself:

Matt's Dreams of Being a Cat Trainer Over After Tragic Mauling

Just weeks into Matt's training with the world renowned Moscow Cats Theater, a tragic turn of events have ended his dream of becoming the troop's first American trainer. While working with a cat named Moz, who has a notoriously two-faced personality, Matt was tragically mauled. Scents are one of those thing that can instantly trigger a memory. Today I had one of those moments while walking home from work. From the subway I walked through Bloomingdale's to get out of the cold, during my trek I walked past the Bloomingdale's cafe. The aromas which were emanating from the cafe immediately took me directly to Grandma's kitchen (and no it wasn't the typical moth ball smell the rest of the house has). I just may have Thanksgiving dinner early at the cafe.

Newspapers Innovate - Finally

It's been a long long time since I've seen the newspaper publishing industry do something different. As an advertiser, I know how hard it is to get peoples attention and this sure does make it hard to miss, yet it's not intrusive. The use of a watermark ad right in the content of the paper. pretty cool.

What do you think? How about selling full page ads on the classifieds area and then selling the classifieds at cut rates. You can purchase the classified ad right online for $1.99 and have it show up in the paper the very next day. Just an idea.

Then again, I'm more interested in ads like this!

Photo Search - Google's next challenge

Part of what makes Google so competitive in the searchosphere or GYM (Google, Yahoo, MSN) as it's starting to be called, is their never ending efforts to index as much information as possible. They've pretty much got text covered, indexing text data from many formats and even index video through closed caption text, but there is a so much more information that up until recently just wasn't possible to index - namely photos.

Enter Ryia Photo Search which was just purchased by Google for $40 million dollars. Ryia uses face recognition technology that allows you to identify people in photos and even objects (think common buildings, art, street signs). There is not much information on them at this point, but the way I think it works is that it's going to start with a blank slate, when an untagged person or object shows up in a photo you can apply a tag. Once the item is tagged it will use the recognition technology to match similar objects and auto-tagging (or labeling as Google calls it) them.

Pretty interesting stuff, but requires lots of work on consumers. I guess you could think of it like flickr and hope that people will just become accustomed to tagging not just their photos, but the actual people and objects in them.

Unfortunately their pressure on the boulder caused it to dislodge, and what was to be a funny family photo ended in tragedy. This photo was taken just moments before they were truly attempting to hold back the boulder's fury.

I blame Monster.com) Being particularly bored today I came across this bit of wax. It makes so much sense, why hasn't anyone done this before? Leave it to those Scandinavians designers.

Three Dimentional Viewing

We can put a man on the moon and can cook a meatball hotpock in 2 minutes 30 seconds, but we can't create life-like 3D images or movies. There is a big TV event going on this week that incorporates 3D elements. The show is Medium and from what I understand it has something to do with psychic. Somehow being psychic is related to seeing 3D. In any case, they passed out thousands of red and blue view glasses and it just reminded me of how we have come since Captain EO - not far at all. I guess we'll just have to settle for 3D reality.

Growing up where we did in Woburn, right behind the Aberjona River, I thought I would share some interesting info I came across about the river and how it helped shape the city.

Woburn is located 12 miles north of Boston. It has a population of 38,000 and covers nearly 14 square miles. It is an old community by United States standards, founded in 1640, and has many beautiful homes (4 Sedgewick included) and buildings (the library for one). The Aberjona River runs through Woburn, from the town of Wilmington to the north, through Woburn, and into the Mystic Lakes in Winchester to the south.

The abundance of water provided by numerous lakes and streams that flow into the Aberjona River provided a ready water supply for industrial development, and from the mid 1800s into the early 1900s the Middlesex Canal connected Woburn with the port of Boston to the south and industries in the city of Lowell to the north, the city recognized as the site of America's growing industrial revolution. Woburn's location and abundant clean water supply made it ripe for industrial development that has flourished from the mid 1800s into the present.

Woburn's industrial history really began in the late 1600s when the first leather tanning company was formed. Between the mid 1800s and into the mid 1900s there were 100 leather tanning operations located on the banks of the Aberjona river. In 1850 the Woburn Chemical Works began operation in north Woburn. For over 100 years this property was used for manufacturing chemicals for the New England region's leather, textile, and agricultural industries. From the late 1800s into the early 1900s it was the location of the Merrimac Chemical Company, one of the region's largest chemical manufacturing operations where they manufactured, among other things, arsenic and lead based pesticides, sulfuric acid, and explosives used during World War I and II.

As was the practice of the past, waste from manufacturing operations was disposed of on adjacent property in pits, ponds, lagoons, and directly into the Aberjona River. Some of the waste was disposed of in landfills where it was burned and buried. As tannery and chemical operations grew, smaller industries were built throughout the community. These operations included chemical barrel cleaning and reclaiming operations, piggeries for supplying leather for the tanneries, and smaller chemical manufacturing operations.

The Aberjona River was actually known to be contaminated as early as the mid-1800s. In the late 1890's reports from the State Board of Health documented death from cholera and typhoid from drinking water supplies contaminated with wastes from the tanneries. In 1922 the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife released a photo essay of 150 photographs documenting contamination the entire length of the Aberjona River

What is the legacy of this industrial development, this progress that creates jobs and fuels the economy? Woburn has two federally designated Superfund hazardous wastes sites of approximately 350 acres each. It has over 100 smaller state designated Superfund hazardous waste sites. And, for 15 years people of Woburn received drinking water from a supply contaminated with volatile organic chemicals from improper and illegal hazardous waste disposal throughout the Aberjona River Watershed. The people of Woburn have suffered from significant and diverse health problems.

Studies have also shown that Woburn residents have suffered from increased rates of kidney and liver cancer, birth defects, and heart system, immune system, and nervous system disorders

WOW! Wish I knew about this stuff back in '86 We should have stayed in Stoneham! I guess our house was built right on a superfund waste deposit. I always wondered why people in Woburn were so dumb ;)

O'Haggertys Take 3rd Place in Quiz Night

The O'Haggertys, with a team of two, managed to snag 3rd place with 100 points in the Baker St. Pub quiz night. Bryan and Matt attributed their win to their phenomenal performance in the picture and music rounds of the quiz game. When Matt dropped Bill Haley and the Comets they knew they were a shoe-in for a top spot. Pitted against teams of four to six the O'Haggertys certainly faced a formable challenge. Maybe next time they'll hit the trip to Ireland jack pot.

A woman died in a Calcutta hospital after ants ate one of her eyes as she was recovering from a cornea operation, media reports said Tuesday.

Gauri Chakraborty, 55, had complained of terrible pain after the operation at a state-run hospital, but a nurse told her it was normal and left her unattended, her son Soumen told the Press Trust of India news agency.

He said that when her bandage was removed the next day they found big black ants nibbling at her eye, PTI reported.

"She died a ghastly death. We don't even know the reason of her death," Amitabha Kar, Chakraborty's son-in-law told PTI.

Local Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra demanded a report of the incident from the hospital authorities. In response, hospital superintendent Sukumar Das said a five-member inquiry committee has been set up, PTI reported.

Hey Gang, it's Matt and Chiho sending our regards from IRAQ (don't worry Mike, we're just traveling as friends!) We're having a great time in Mesopotamia. Wish you could all be here! Everything has been just so exciting. They really know how to roll out the welcome mat in Tikrit - there have been the most amazing fireworks EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!

The weather has been wonderful as well, except for a few white clouds of phosphors while we were visiting Falluja.

Speaking of Falluja, the locals there have been great. We met a gentleman by the name of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (I think he's the president of the local lions club type organization here). He was kind enough to give us both hand made vests to wear when we go back to our hotel in Baghdad!

Bryan Haggerty was arrested December of 2000 for possesion of illegal folical enhancement drugs. The State DA commented earlier, "The State of Massachusetts can not tolerate androgynous behavior in its schools. I know Mr. Haggerty has entered an unorthodox plea of —My girlfriend made me do it— however the state does not make exceptions for being pussy wiped." When reached for comment, Mr. Haggerty had only this to offer in his defense. "The DA is seeking a sentence for me to grow a goatee, but my lawyer said we can plea bargain down to a flavor saver."

Alex to Appear on NBC's Biggest Loser 3

Alex has been picked to appear on NBC's hit reality TV series The Biggest Loser. Over the years Alex has dealt with a carbohydrate overload, a diet consisting mostly of bagels and Bud lights. He realized what grave danger he was in when Budweiser released the Bud Light Bagel. Alex had been enjoying a 900% daily value of carbohydrates. Unfortunately due to the deadly gaseous releases of such a diet many of his friends and family had to leave him.

By appearing on The Biggest Loser Alex hopes to reclaim his life and vows to switch to hard liquor and marijuana to improve his diet.

Just outside of the Chat-n-Chew, Randy quickly reached down to adjust his belt buckle. With a flick of his writs, the belt breaks loose like a broken dam, a rush of carb-fuled flesh overflows his pant waist followed by a gasous sigh of relief. “uaggah…ahhhh” pausing as if completely exhausted. “now that’s what’s I’m talking about!” Randy chuckles – the rements of pankcakes coating his teeth. “Nothing like letting it all hang out right? Hell I’m hitched anyways, It’s not like I’m trying to impress anyone but the cooks”.

Dust settling gently on his boots, Randy slides his hands into the puckered pocket slits of his jeans. Gesturing with a slight shoulder shrug, he looked toward this mornings breakfast companion “ya know Steven, most people are pretty uneasy about having you around. This is a small town – a safe town. I like to think of it as a nook in the worlds English muffin if you know what I’m saying – although probably without the cranny, because they ain’t good for anything but cutting the roof of your mouth anyway. It’s true that we’ve got small hopes and small dreams here, but that’s good enough for us. What we do have is our community. The people here that make living in a place like this bearable and every moment you’re here is a moment we can’t forget about what happened. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take, but the faster you get in that car of yours, the better off we’ll be.”

So who's going to Woburn for Thanksgiving? Is it just Mike, Bry and me? I'm not really that interested in going to Jay and Susan's house for the feast of The New World. Who knows what kinda weirdness might be there.

However, I'm not so keen on having to cook everything up either because that's a hella lot of work. I do like the idea of getting some seasonal beers and chilling out at home. Mike, I suppose that doesn't have much weight with you though - maybe since bry and I will be around.

Let me know what you guys think you wanna do. Would have been nice if everyone was together, but what can ya do - 20 hours of travel time doesn't sound like fun to me. It's almost a days worth of vacation! Maybe we can get some recipies or something and try to do it up. Thoughts?
